Our Team
Bronwyn and I (Kenny) founded Buckminster Green in 2005. I was teaching high school physics, and Bronwyn was a newspaper reporter when we decided to pursue what had been a side project (since 2000) full time. We enjoy spending time in the mountains, kayaking and hiking with our 12 year old daughter. We love stand-up comedy, reading, and when we’re not talking about our client’s dream remodels, we’re discussing the next project at our house in Northern Liberties or our cabin in the Poconos. We’ve learned a lot over the last 20+ years remodeling rowhomes, but we don’t know everything - so we put together a team of complimentary people to make the experience working with Buckminster Green the best around.
After working construction part time during my time at Hamilton College, I knew that I wanted to be involved in fabrication after graduating. In the following years, I did fabrication in theatre, scene shops, exhibit companies and on sets for film and television. Metal is my favorite medium, but I’ve worked in many. That work required a lot of travel so when my wife and I started our family I needed a career change. I started as a carpenter, but as the company grew, I shifted to the production management role. We are fortunate at this point to have wonderful clients and challenging projects to work on. I enjoy supporting our team members, problem solving, being on schedule, and handing off a transformed space over to our clients. I enjoy all Philly sports, all kinds of music, watching my cat torment our dog, listening to the hilarious conversation of my 11 and 13 year old, playing cards with my wife, and being close to the ocean.
My fondest memories are of building with my father and grandfather. After college, I immersed myself in the Philadelphia music scene and while exploring designs to build an ergonomic musician’s chair, I discovered Wharton Esherick. Touring his home studio was a pivotal moment for me and soon after I began building full time with my father-in-law. One of the greatest joys of the job is that each day is like playing with an evolving band where subs and carpenters, designers and clients work together to express a unique vision.
When not on a ladder, you might find me canoe camping, grilling food we grow with our neighbors, expanding the endless list of nicknames for our cats or working in our home wood shop. My favorite week of the year is when our 180 year old Magnolia blooms, and my favorite tool is the last one I picked up. I will treat your home with the same respect as I treat my own.
I went to Philadelphia University/TJU for my Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and then my Master’s degree in Real Estate Development. I got into this line of work due to my passion for problem-solving through forms of creativity and sustainable planning. I love helping others achieve their dreams through spaces that are meaningful, inspiring, and that evoke a sense of peace. Some of my outside interests are going to the movies, a comic book store, or a museum. I like searching out great eats in Philadelphia, or just having fun with family/friends. I love turtles and fish! My favorite part of my job is having the opportunity to work with awesome people in a great environment, and ultimately being able to collaborate creatively, making the challenging - achievable.
After college I worked with Habitat for Humanity through AmeriCorps, which set me on a path to work in construction in form or another for the rest of my career. I earned a master’s degree in urban planning and worked several years in community development but felt called back to working with my hands. I especially enjoy rehabbing the older building stock of Philadelphia to preserve and modernize our existing urban fabric, including our own house in Cedar Park.
While not at work I like biking around the city, gardening, photography and writing/choreographing/performing avant garde songs about our cats with my wife.
Jim here! I’m originally from Southeastern Connecticut. I went to the University of Southern California where I followed a pre med course line while majoring in English with a focus on American Literature. While in college I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and started making furniture in a shop I had assembled by accumulating a bunch of cheap tools. That satiated my want to work with my hands, and In 2005 when I moved to Philadelphia, I was happy to find work as a carpenter who likes books rather than continue onto medical school. I’ve been working at Buckminster Green since 2008.
I build your space as if it were my own, and I get the most satisfaction when our awesome clients see the final product. If I’m not proud of my work, it’s not done yet! In my free time, I’m working on my house in West Philly, crocheting, collecting paintings of tall ships from thrift stores, and listening to songs like The Pelican by Menomena. Looking forward to meeting you!
I attended Kean University and received my BFA in Interior Design. I’ve been creative ever since I was young. My mother opened my eyes to a future in design, working at a manufacturer for custom furniture. Outside of design, you can find me traveling, taking instant photos, escaping into a good book, and making memories with my pup Leo. I enjoy designing projects with a wide range of styles to create the ideal home for our clients.
Proud father of two boys! Went to high school at Kingsway in NJ. In my free time I like to watch any Philly sports, play video games, go fishing, or run around with the boys. I got into carpentry because I have a lot of carpenters in my family. I did commercial carpentry for 9 years then wanted to move into something a little more challenging and interesting. My favorite part or remodeling is that you never know what you’re going to be doing job to job, and it’s always fun to watch someone’s ideas come to life.
